Toxicology

Luminus Diagnostics, since 2012, has been specializing in toxicology testing, pioneering new developments along the way. Our testing, process management, compliance support and technology platforms are what help separate Luminus from the pack.

We use both Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) for screening, and highly sensitive Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (UPLC/MS/MS) for confirmation of results to provide the most accurate testing available.

Why Drug Screen?

Subjective Screening for Abuse and Diversion is Ineffective

  • Psychological Screening Fails to Identify Abusers
  • Physician’s Clinical Acumen Fails to Identify Abusers and Diverters
  • Diverters and Addicts actively alter Test Results

Point of Care Test (POCT) and Immunoassay (IA) alone are Inadequate

  • POCT and IA Identify a Drug Class only; not a Specific Drug
  • Screening Cut Off Limits are very high and may miss Considerable Positive Results

Patient Physiologic and Disease States can Interfere with POCT and IA

  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Liver Disease
  • Toxin Ingestion

  • Identify and avoid substance misuse, abuse and diversion.
  • Ensure the donor is taking the medicine you prescribed.
  • Ensure the donor is not using illicit or non-prescribed drugs that may put their safety at risk while taking medication that you prescribed.
  • As part of a larger Adherence Monitoring or Prescription Monitoring program.
  • Satisfy legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to current “standards of care” for people receiving scheduled medications.
  • Multiple Substances can Interfere with POCT and IA
  • Universal Screening with Confirmation is Recommended
    • POCT and IA require Confirmation Testing for Best Patient and Physician Treatment Outcomes

Urine Testing

Why Urine Drug Testing?

  • It is the long-standing, preferred method of collection for drug screening and testing. The utilization of urine to detect various drugs and drug classes has been around for decades with numerous published articles on the topic and methodology.
  • Another option for specimen collection.
  • Detection times in urine are typically 1-2 days longer than blood/oral fluid detection periods.
  • Some drugs/drug classes remain more easily detectable in urine.

Oral Fluid Testing

Why Oral Fluid Testing?

Our oral fluid drug testing provides a simple, clean, accurate, and efficient way of drug testing. Tests can be performed anywhere with no special facilities needed.

Our collection procedure is:

  • Non-invasive
  • Fast and efficient in 3-5 minutes
  • Hassle-free
  • Safe and observed
